Sessions
Sessions are by appointment only, although I am usually able to arrange a session at reasonably short notice.
Each session is approximately one hour in duration (with the exception of smoking cessation, which is approximately two to three hours). Some clients prefer longer or shorter sessions, which may be possible in certain circumstances.
Generally sessions are held at my consulting room in Rickmansworth, although home visits may be possible in certain circumstances.
Appointment are available during the day, in the evening or at the weekend.
Intervals between sessions are mutually agreed. Generally the interval will be no less than one week and many clients only require sessions every two to five weeks or, indeed, on an ad hoc basis.
Fees
Fees are charged at a rate of £45 per session (with the exception of smoking cessation). A concessionary rate is available but only in exceptional circumstances.
Smoking cessation costs £150 for a single two to three hour session.
Clients are asked to pay by cash or cheque on the day. Cheques must be covered by a cheque guarantee card.
Please bear in mind that when you book an appointment with me, I set aside time specifically for you which could have been used to see another client. For this reason, fees are chargeable in full if you fail to attend or give less than 24 hour’s notice of cancellation.
Confidentiality
What is discussed in sessions is confidential and I would not normally give details
about you to anyone else, except where I have reason to believe that someone is at
serious risk of harm.
Free initial consultation
Successful counselling owes much to the relationship between client and counsellor.
For this reason, I recommend that you have an initial consultation with me. The consultation
lasts for quarter of an hour and gives you a no obligation chance to meet me, discuss
your concerns and decide if you would like to continue working with me. If you then
want to continue, we will go straight into a full session (for which you will be
charged a full session fee); if you decide that this is not for you, you will be
free to leave at no cost.
